Near Misses (Part 2 of 3) [Best of 2011]
Posted by ThatsMyJamRadio on December 24, 2011
2011 was a decent year for music, though there was plenty of room for improvement — but we digress. We take pride in That’s My Jam’s Dance, Pop, R&B and Top 10 charts reflecting the best of the best each month, but our end-of-the-year wrap-up never fails to reveal that some songs are elusive and evade charting! Here, we recognize 7 of 21 near misses that should have been on at least one of That’s My Jam’s charts.
Michael Jackson
“Hollywood Tonight”
Posthumous pop from the genre’s forever-reigning king.
Emeli Sandé feat. Naughty Boy
“Daddy”
Alterna-soul hinting at big things to come from this Scottish newcomer.
Luciana
“I’m Still Hot”
With or without Betty White, this track is golden.
Beyoncé
“Run the World (Girls)”
Beat-biting at its best.
Goapele
“Play”
We’ll take our soul neo with a splash of contemporary, please.
Zoë Badwi
“Accidents Happen”
Infatuation gets an apology.
CockNBullKid
“Asthma Attack”
Smart song from rising international star.
